To bike the SE Clinton neighborhood greenway, start at SE Clinton and SE 12th. If you are taking public transit from another part of town, the Max Orange line stop is conveniently located at this intersection. At SE 21st, you can decide to make a detour to Ladd’s Addition, a distinctly X-shaped street plan. SE Ladd Ave is another greenway with some hills and takes you to a center roundabout that has Camellias blooming in early spring and toward neighborhood rose gardens in the summer.
SE Clinton was a great 4.3-mile ride on a nice day. The streets are beautiful with sections of old homes, established gardens, and flowers.
Once you get close to the end of the greenway at SE 45th, make a turn towards SE Division Street for coffee or lunch. We stopped by two food carts with very different flavors – Kim Jong Grillin’ for Korean food and DeMarco’s Sandwiches for Italian American subs. Both were great, tasty casual food. There isn’t a lot of space to sit down on the shared covered patio so it is best to take food to-go or pair it with some drinks at Stumptown Coffee Roasters across the street. As a bonus, Stumptown has a beautiful hidden patio escape from the busy street.
